picaroa

FAQ & Troubleshooting

General questions

What do I need to use picaroa?
A self-hosted PicoShare server and your shared secret (your instance’s API password). picaroa is the client, the server runs on your side.
What are guest links?
They let others upload files to you — no account needed, via a simple link, with a configurable expiry and file lifetime.
Is metadata removed from my images?
Optionally, yes. picaroa can strip GPS and camera metadata (EXIF) before uploading — enable the option in Settings or at upload time.
How much does picaroa cost?
picaroa is free. You can optionally support development with an in-app donation.

Troubleshooting

The server is unreachable right now
No problem — uploads go into the offline queue and are sent automatically once you’re back online.
Sign-in fails
Check the server URL and the shared secret. You can reveal the secret in plain text while typing to rule out typos. After an expired session, picaroa re-logs in automatically.
The download counter shows nothing
The number of downloads is only shown if your PicoShare server provides this information — it depends on the server version.
A shared link no longer works
Check the link’s expiry date: once it has passed, the file is no longer served by the server. Create a new link with a longer lifetime if needed.
An upload is stuck
Check the connection to the server. If the upload sits in the offline queue, it will be retried automatically once the server is reachable again.
